In attention to Grade 3-5 students
CIPP External Examinations


In every 2 months you will be tested by following subjects.
English
Maths
Science

Exams are designed by Cambridge International Centre teachers to measure you knowledge and ability on certain subject. Exam papers will be marked by the rules of CIE. First external examinations will be held from 26th to 30th October, 2009.

Important notes
Be aware of the external examination session schedule.
Begin to prepare for your tests at least a week before.
You should have your own pen, pencil, ruler and eraser on the examination.
You are not allowed to speak anyone and to ask any question regarded to question paper during the test.
Be positive about the exams. It gives you a clear picture of what you can and cannot know at the moment, which will guide you in your further learning.

Checkpoint Exam papers
Checkpoint English (Grades 6-8)

Paper 1 will be taken in a one hour session with an additional 7 minutes for reading the paper. Paper 1 will be split into two sections.
Section A will assess reading and will consist of a reading comprehension and a summary either set on one long passage or two separate, shorter passages. The passages will be short and have a factual content. The questions will be straightforward and explicit (16 marks).
Section B will assess writing and candidates will be given a short, focused task with a clear aim and audience. The content will be non-narrative (30 marks).

Checkpoint Maths (Grades 6-8)

Paper 1 will be taken in an hour long session. Questions will be set on the Number, Algebra and Space sections of the Curriculum Framework.
Paper 1 will contain short structured questions totalling 50 marks. The questions will demand a variety of skills including recall of information and application of Mathematical knowledge.
All the questions on both papers will be compulsory. As far as possible the questions will be arranged in difficulty through each paper.

The use of an electronic calculator (or Tables) will not be allowed for Paper 1.
 

Checkpoint Science (Grades 6-8)

Paper 1 will be taken in a forty five minute session. Questions will be set on the Biology, Physics and Chemistry sections of the Curriculum Framework.
Paper 1 will contain questions totalling 50 marks with a variety of response types including multiple choice and short answer. The questions will demand a variety of skills including recall and application of the concepts.
All the questions on Paper 1 will be compulsory. As far as possible the questions will be arranged in difficulty through the paper in a repeating pattern of topic. On Paper 1 the pattern will be Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
