Living & Working in Mongolia | Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, has a population of over one million. While the overwhelming majority of citizens are Mongolian, it maintains a good amount of diversity. Mongolian culture is rich and interesting with many traditions that are rewarding to learn from and take part in. Urban life, in most regards, is not so different than in many large cities around the world. For example, there are large supermarkets, good public transportation, many universities, and fashion is paramount to many of UB’s (Ulaanbaatar’s) residents. However, as with many cities, one must be careful about personal safety and belongings. This has become a larger concern with the global economic crisis, and foreigners should be especially careful as they may be targets. Despite this, UB is a vibrant city with plenty of activities to enjoy and people to meet. | | |
