A levels
Cambridge International A/AS Level is an excellent preparation for a university education. Cambridge International A/AS Level is an internationally benchmarked qualification, taken in over 125 countries. Some US universities give up to a year's credit as a result.

  • Cambridge International A and AS Levels are 'gold standard' qualifications.
  • International A and AS Levels incorporate the best of the United Kingdom's A Levels, but are designed to meet the needs of international students.
  • AS Level examinations are usually taken at age 17 and A Level examinations a year later at age 18.
  • International A and AS Levels offer a flexible course of study that gives you the freedom to select the subjects that are right for you.
  • Assessment is available in a wide range of subject areas – Languages, Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, English, Mathematics and Business, Creative, Technical and Vocational.
  • A and AS Level courses differ for each subject but throughout there is a mix of assessment methods, which may include coursework, practical exercises, oral and listening tests, projects and written examinations
  • Good grades at A and AS Level are a key admission for all the world's major English-speaking universities and many non-English-speaking universities.
  • Good grades at A Level can result in up to one full year of advanced standing or credit at universities in the USA and Canada – AS Levels carry half the weighting of an A Level and are typically awarded half the credit value.
  • International A and AS Levels are continually monitored, developed and improved to give students the best in study and assessment.

Cambridge Lower Secondary progamme and Checkpoint testing service
The Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme is a framework for educational success for students aged  11-14 year olds. It builds on the primary stage and develops children's knowledge and skills in Mathematics, English and Science. At the end of Lower Secondary, students can sit Cambridge Checkpoint tests which provide detailed feedback on students' strengths and weaknesses before they move into the 14-16/IGCSE/O Level stage.
Orchlon School is following LSP in its 6-9 grades with teaching English, Mathematics and triple Sciences by the framework.
In the spring 2010 session Orchlon students will take their first Checkpoint session.
Cambridge Checkpoint:

  • Is not a formal qualification with a certificate, but a way in which students can make the most of their educational opportunities
  • Provides good preparation for IGCSE or O Level exams by allowing students to experience an external examination
  • Scores are good predictors of performance in IGCSE and O Level examinations
  • Provides immediate feedback on a student's strengths and weaknesses
  • Gives teachers detailed information about the strengths and weaknesses of each student and class so they can focus their teaching on each class' particular needs
  • Tests can be taken at convenient times, so that they don't disrupt other lessons
  • Provides a transferable record of a student's academic progress – useful if a student moves schools
  • Was created with an international audience in mind so that it is suitable for students of all cultural and language backgrounds
